When Lauren DiMase, daughter of New Hackensack Fire Chief Rocco DiMase, was 6 years old she was first diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She then spent the next couple years of her childhood fighting for survival. Eventually Lauren won this battle against leukemia and the focus was now to merely live the life of a normal child.

Ten years later, January of 2008 Lauren Dimase relapsed and is now reliving the nightmare of her past all over again. She is currently a patient at Westchester Medical Center and will be spending the next 27 months receiving chemotherapy infusions. This is just the start of her road to recovery.
